THIS is a film festival announcement that we are overjoyed about! Our very first award for Calf Rope was presented to us by The Wild Bunch Film Festival (TWBFF) in October of 2019 for Best Modern Day Screenplay and at that point the movie had just been shot and we were only in the beginning stages of assembling a rough cut for the film.
TODAY it was announced that Calf Rope is dominating the nominations in the "Modern Day Western" genre at TWBFF and is nominated in several other categories as well. Along with the nomination for Best Modern Day Western, we received nominations in the genre for Best Director (Bradley Hawkins), Best Actor (Gorman Ruggiero), Best Actress (Avery Kellington), Best Supporting Actor (Lukas Barnett), Best Supporting Actress (Jackie Walker), Best Cast Ensemble, and Best Cinematography (Sofia Monzerratt). On a broader scale and outside of the genre we are thrilled to announce that Calf Rope is also nominated for Best Drama, Best Rodeo Film, and also earned two nominations for Best Young Actor (10 yr-old Lukas Barnett and 8 yr-old Logan Donaldson).
The Wild Bunch Film Festival (TWBFF) held in Wilcox, Arizona definitely lives up to its name in that this unique western genre film fest is held as in conjunction with the 70th Annual Rex Allen Days which includes a rodeo, parade, car show, gun show, carnival & more!
