The Legacy of Calf Rope

Before there was a screenplay there was a fireplace mantle with a coiled rope mounted on the brick wall behind it. Across from the rope was a chipped ceramic cowpoke resting on that same mantle as if it had all the time in the world. These are the two artifacts that remain in director, Bradley Hawkins' home that reminds him of a robust man from his youth with a full head of slicked-back silvery hair, a weathered-face that wore a devilish grin and hosted two twinkly-eyes, and a raspy voice that when demanding two particular words with such playful glee, expressed such love and joy for his grandson, that he'll never be able to shake it off. These are the memories that were spawned by those two words: CALF ROPE. #calfropemovie
